"Silver State 300" Post Race ReportMay 2, 2011

Results:

#1178 - 1st place, #1101 - 4th place, and #2009 - 2nd place

On Friday morning the team departed Phoenix for the Silver State 300, where we were hoping to defend our 2010 win.  As it turned out we did!!

We had a great trip to Vegas where we completed registration and tech. After that we continued up to Alamo where the race would start on Saturday morning. We got settled in and began to do all the last check items on the cars.  After everything was ready we all enjoyed an awesome spaghetti dinner by Gail Graf, as always it was very good. The weather there was very cold and windy so most of us went to bed early. Saturday morning we were all up early and ready for the race.  It was a cool day with a little wind, which is a drivers dream.  Everyone headed out to their first pit assignments, and the drivers waited at the starting line for the green flag. This is a real scenic race course that is very tight in places, but yet has a lot of open fast sections. We were running up to 94 miles per hour on the fast sections and crawling in the tight rocky places.  There was a little water here and there and even signs of snow up on the north part of the course. We started at about 3000 ft elevation, went up to 7000 ft, and then came back down to 3000ft at the finish line.  We had a great race with 6 different pits, and the chase crew (as always), were there spot on every time. We ran a pretty fast race with every kind of obstacle we could have: silt, rocks, and trees.  Big congratulations to Bryon Folks, Rick Graft, and Ryan Marley for the win in the 1178.  Also congratulations to Zach Perez and Jake DeWitt for a solid second place in the 2009 car.   Lee, Lee Jr., and Chris Godfrey took 4th place in the 1101after Sr. hit a huge rock and junked a front tire, slowing them down a little. Also we want to thank the whole team for all their super help: Andy Megaw, Dennis Plante, Steve "Scoop" Godfrey, Cooper Ericson, Tim West, Panayiotis Proios, and Ali Banning.  A great job by all and for anyone not there, we missed you a great deal.

Thanks to all our sponsors: BFGoodrich, Fox Shox, Ford Racing, NEO Synthetic Lubricants, F&L Fuel, Select Glass, Foddrill Motorsports, Foddrill Fab, and IRC Tracking.

I can't say thanks enough to all the team, our supporters, and sponsors. Another great job by all!!
